September 2009

About three weeks before the election of the German Parliament the political mood remains rather stable. The Union, like in the preceding week, would currently receive 35 percent. The Social Democrats could expect 23 percent, the Liberals 14 percent (both also unchanged). The Greens lose 1 point and could count on 12 percent of the vote while the Left Party gains 1 percentage point and would now also receive 12 percent. All other parties taken together would get 4 percent. The Union and the Liberals taken together are slightly stronger than the Social Democrats, Greens and the Left party combined (49:47 percent). If this would be the election result, a “black-yellow” coalition of the Union and the FDP would have a small majority of seats.
